I have a friend that on the 1st of June Bought a money order for his rent. The place where he lives said they never received it. He proved he bought the money order and everything ( Money order receipt ) ( Register Receipt ) They still went to evict him. He told them if they hadnt received the rent by the middle of the month he would get a duplicate money order.. But even after that they still started the eviction.. Well he got the New money order..
Had to go to court, Pay His rent, Late fee ( $50.00 ) And court cost...
OK now the 2nd part of this. They posted a ( Reminder ) on his door... An eviction was filed against you for non payment of rent on 06-24-06 it states We can Dismiss this eviction if you pay your June rent, plus late fees - Filing fee - Administrative fees by July 31st.
OK they didnt file the eviction till Just 17th of July 2006
I know the lost money order is probably up to the Complex where he lives..
Because it states that an eviction was filed on 06-24-06 and not filed until 2-3-4 weeks later is that legal? What happens to the filing fees and all the extra cost if he would have paid it before they actually filed?
