I recently moved into a duplex and I live on the bottom floor and there is a couple who live on the top floor. This place does have a yard and my landlord still has a lot of items in the yard that she has promised to remove and some she hasn't promised to remove. Is she allowed to keep junk on the property that belongs to her such as an old car, ladders, old bikes. There are many more things. Since I am renting the property, is it my right to have her move these things so I can have the yard for my own use? She also comes into the yard whenever she wants to without notice to me. Is this allowed since it is only the yard? She is also friends with the person upstairs ( I wasn't aware of this until after I started moving in) can she come back and say that the person upstairs gives her permission for things or does she have to gain permission from the both of us to do things? I would appreciate your response on these matters. Thank you.
A: City ordinances may prevent the landlord from keeping an old junk car in the yard. I would check there first. The yard seems to be common property and if the landlord maintains it that would give her even more right to be there.
