I've been renting a house for 1 1/2 years. I am the only person on the lease. I allowed a good friend that I have known for 15 years move in with me. It seemed like a good idea at the time, as it is a large house. He pays part of the rent(I pay most of it) and helps out with yard work. He is bipolar, and at the time when I allowed him to move in, he was on meds. and seeing a counselor. Shortly after moving in, he decided to quit taking meds and stopped going to counseling. He has also begun to drink heavily. When he gets drunk(which is almost everyday now) he gets mean, unreasonable, loud, suicidal and verbally abusive to me. I have asked him to move out several times. Now he says that he will not go on his own, that I will have to call the police to get him out. He always pays his part of the rent on time, but I am tired of living with a crazy drunken person, and it is getting progressively worse. How can I go about getting this person out of my home? We don't have any kind of written agreement between us. Do I just change the locks? Do I need to give him a formal 30 day eviction notice? Or do I just call the police? Help me!!

In Ohio - If he didn't sign the lease and that your agreement is a month to month tenancy. If so, you would give 30 days written notice and if he still didn't move out then you would give a 3 day notice and proceed with an eviction.
