My rental property caught fire Dec. 21, 2005. The tenants have found an apartment and have not came back to remove their furniture. I have asked them repeatedly to get the furniture out of my rental so I can have it repaired. As of right now it is unlivable. I also offered to haul their belongings for them free of charge if they had no way to move it. Can I set the furniture out without getting into trouble for doing so?
In Ohio, if you have any doubt about whether or not the tenant is still staying at the apartment (or storing his things there), then you will want to go through the statutorily mandated eviction process.
You can find a good description of that process in our FAQ section at http://www.ohiolandlordtenant.com/faq2.html
