I have lived with a family member in Ohio for the last six months and the agreement is that I can live there free if I do work around the house (watching the kids, cleaning, etc). That family member now wants me out. What are my rights?
The question here for the Court is whether you are simply in a guest/host relationship or if you are in a landlord/tenant relationship. If you can prove to the court that an agreement exists wherein you exchange services for rent, then you would very likely be seen as a month to month tenant. The duration of the stay added to the testimony about work you do for the owner would likely convince the court on this point and take this out of a simple "guest that won't leave" situation.
You can find information about terminating a month to month tenancy and you can even hear a free podcast on the subject.
