HOW TO GET OUT OF YOUR LEASE CHECKLIST

1. Are there any problems that need repaired at the apartment?
If they are serious problems then you may be able to break your lease early; however, Ohio law requires that you follow a specific procedure before you can get out of your lease. Fail to follow this specific procedure and you will more than likely be liable for the remainder of the rent on the lease and damages associated with the landlord trying to re-rent the premises.

2. Has the landlord made numerous unauthorized entries into the apartment?
If so, and if you have followed Ohio's specific procedure, then you may be qualified for early lease termination.

3. Are you buying a house and need to break your lease early?
Learn what you can do to limit your rent liability and avoid hurting your credit by breaking your lease.

4. Are you transferring to another job and need to break your lease? If so, do you know how to negotiate with the landlord in order to limit your rental liability and make the best deal for yourself?
